The Latest Generation Of The Apple iPhone
The iPhone 3GS was launched on June 19, 2009 to sell out crowds, snatching up every iPhone 3GS available, for weeks straight. While it was not as big of a launch as the actual launch of the original iPhone, the demand was overwhelming. The iPhone 3GS introduced faster processor speeds for increased performance, longer battery life, a higher resolution camera with video recording, updated iPhone 3.0 software and increased storage capacity.
The iPhone 3GS was released alongside the iPhone 3.0 software which featured many core improvements to the iPhone OS which millions and millions of users had been begging for since the launch of the iPhone, namely, copy-and-paste. In addition, all native apps could now be used in landscape mode, like SMS, which was also a very highly requested addition. Apple finally unlocked video recording with the iPhone 3.0 OS, and even included limited video editing tools, for trimming video on the spot. While MMS Picture Messaging was also announced as part of the iPhone 3.0 OS, it was not initially available along with the release of the software in the US, because AT&T could not support it immediately, which caused huge uproar from angry AT&T users. Tethering was also introduced - unofficially. Yet bright software hackers quickly figured out how to enable the tethering option for AT&T. Overall, the iPhone 3.0 OS brought a variety of major improvements to the iPhone OS that left users wondering how they ever managed to get by without these features.
The iPhone is rumored to be refreshed again in early June or July 2010, following the same trends as last year, with an expected announcement coming at a summer Apple event. This new iPhone is rumored to include the iPhone 4.0 software, which has yet to be announced as of February 2010.
