Paul McCartney was recently quoted telling Billboard.com that a deal to make the Beatles catalog available on iTunes was “virtually settled.” For many months now there have been rumors of the Beatles catalog coming to iTunes, but this is the first time the news has come directly from a Beatles member.

You may be wondering why this is such big news. Well, besides the fact that the Beatles music isn’t currently available anywhere online to purchase legally, Apple, Inc. and the Beatles music publisher, Apple Corps, had a long legal battle over the use of the name Apple. The dispute was recently settled and the two are now working together to make this deal possible.
